"I hope I can help out as many people as I can who are going through mental health issues and that they can love who they are."
Crean Lutheran High School GRC President Stephanie Chung and Vice President Grace Choi are excited to open up the dialogue on mental health and act as strong support systems for their peers. Check out their words below on why they're proud to join our mission.
Why did you choose to join Green Ribbon Club?
Stephanie Chung: I wanted to spread mental illness awareness as I am interested in it.
Grace Choi: I chose to join Green Ribbon Club because I always wanted to help out people or my peers who were going through difficult times and stay next to them to give them support.
Why is advocacy for mental health important?
SC: Because a lot of people don't consider mental illness to really be "illness", which leads to suicide sometimes.
GC: Advocacy for mental health is important because I think anything that you do comes from your mindset.
How do you hope to make a positive impact on your school's culture?
SC: I hope to make everyone aware of mental illness in my school.
GC: I hope to make a positive impact on my school's culture by opening myself up to people who need to talk about their situation and get help if they are willing to.
What's your favorite way to practice self-care?
SC: My favorite way to practice self-care is talking to other people.
GC: My favorite way to practice self-care is to listen to music and eat desserts.
Anything else you want to say?!
GC: Even though this is my first time joining this club, I hope I can help out as many people as I can who are going through mental health issues and that they can love who they are.
