Our 3rd Annual Silent Auction raised an impressive $18,711. 100% of proceeds go toward school club programs as the new school year kicks off! Held at the Anaheim Majestic Hotel, our annual silent auction welcomed more than 100 guests and inspiring presenters. All auction items sold out within 30 minutes. Our 50/50 raffle winner generously donated her winnings back to Green Ribbon Club. Legacies actress Kaylee Bryant’s autographed swag raised more than $1,500 from the silent and online auctions. Attendees were excited to see the bidding occur in-person and online during and after the event!

Kaylee Bryant took some time away from filming Legacies in Atlanta to talk about her experience dealing with the struggles of mental health issues that have impacted her. She shared very personal stories of her brother and reminded us all to encourage those struggling to reach out to anyone and talk about it.

Jason Reid, founder of Choose Life, shared his harrowing story as a parent of a young teen who committed suicide. As a husband and father, Jason was hit with a devastating blow of grief, loss and despair. The truth was almost too painful to comprehend: his son had struggled with depression in silence and in secret. And suddenly, he was gone. From his story, we know it is time for us to take action and give people the tools to prevent suicide. Jason presented the Five Pillars to help eradicate teen suicide:

Pillar 1: Parents

Pillar 2: Schools & Government

Pillar 3: Children

Pillar 4: Medical Community

Pillar 5: Social Media

He believes that suicide should be approached like any other epidemic. Not just with the goal of reduction but with the goal of eradication. Choose Life hopes to be the spark that starts a revolution to end teen suicide. Jason produced a documentary about his son’s life and his mission, called ‘Tell My Story’. The feature film will released in Spring 2020. To learn more about the movie, visit https://www.chooselife.org/film.

The silent auction had more than 115 generously donated items from a Suite at Angel’s Stadium, tickets to see Florida Georgia Line, gift cards to dozens of retail shops and restaurants, a kid-powered BMW ride-on bike, wine and spa gift baskets, local concert tickets, and much more. We want to thank all of our generous gift donors who enabled us to reach our fundraising goal with so many amazing items up for auction.

Our newly raised funds will directly support our organization and school clubs to bring communities together, increase awareness of mental health resources, stop the stigma of mental illness, and help end suicide.
